Skype in Lucid Lynx
Lucid Lynx is down with That - Skype that is!
If you're running Ubuntu 10.04, the Lucid Lynx, Skype is in your repos. That means installing Skype is as easy as 1, 2, 3...
Open the Synaptic Package Manager, (System>>Administration>>Synaptic Package Manager), type "Skype" into the search box and when the list is populated, double-click the appropriate entry, in this case "Skype", click "Apply", and voila, Skype is installed.
Now all you need to do is navigate to the Skype website, sign up for a free account and username.
When you launch Skype, you'll be asked to agree to the terms of service, and a wizard will pop-up asking for your username and password – enter the relevant information and your done.
That's it! Provided you have a web cam or similar video input device connected, you can now make Skype video calls from your Ubuntu machine.
The current version of Skype comes with a great search function that'll help you find your friends and relatives with Skype accounts.
Command line Skype installation:sudo apt-get install skype
